This year, we will raise funds for Junior and Senior prom by engaging in volunteer activities, pairing with local businesses for partnerships and restaurant nights, and hosting our second “Pikesville High Night at Camden Yards.” The class officers will keep their peers, parents, and the community informed of our efforts through an online wiki where fundraising opportunities, spirit events, and information about what the student government officers are doing for Pikesville High’s Class of 2013. The first meeting of the Junior Class Officers will be held after school in room 209 on August 1st. Please email Mr. Barberesi at mbarberesi@bcps.org for more information. |

| MODEL OAS |
Mr. Goodman |
Participation in the Model Organization of American States (MOAS) General Assembly for High Schools is an annual tradition at Pikesville High School (and the only school in Baltimore County to have such a club). The MOAS is a simulation of the actual OAS General Assembly and its main purpose is to familiarize students with the work and functions of the OAS. The MOAS club highlight involves a three-day conference at the OAS headquarters in Washington, D.C. and brings together students from all across the country to learn about the role played by the OAS in dealing with current issues affecting the Western Hemisphere. Each school will send a delegation of students. Each delegation will represent one of the member nations, and will draft and debate resolutions pertaining to a chosen topic. Participation in MOAS can offer invaluable learning experiences for students in that it requires them to learn a great deal about various nations, function of the OAS and rules of debate. MOAS also provides participating students with a much clearer idea of how international diplomacy is carried out in the real world. |
